Renovated Apple Store Opens
The renovation on the Apple Store at Town Plaza is complete. It is twice the size, replacing the McDonald's/Subway/Baskin Robins and the Radio Shack (their disappearance is not permanent at this time). It features a detailed, gray, front facade. In accordance with Apple's retail designs, there is a large, light-up Apple logo in the center of the front. There is also a light-up skylight as well as lights that illuminate the actual storefront. The storefront is inset and identical to the storefront on the previous store. Benches and tress lie outside, with the same M&M's race-car as before. There are plans to replace that car with a courtyard, tables, and chairs equipped with wireless Internet. We don't know if or when this will come to frutition.
The Apple Store was the first in Town Plaza to be renovated as part of Project Utopia. This long-term endeavor will renovate, redesign, and reinvigorate Town Plaza. Most buildings were slowly falling into disrepair, and Hurricane Isabella didn't help matters. As previously reported, the Food Lion, closed indefinably, has collapsed and has been gutted. The exact details of Project Utopia have not been finalized, but the Food Lion is expected to be the next renovation.
