1.16.04 - New Roundhouse Added

Ever since we have had our turntable, we've had a shed. Nothing fancy, just a small structure usually occupied by the Pennsylvania Engine. The other locomotives were just left out in the elements. Until now. Over the holidays we received a brand-new Pola roundhouse. This thing is huge. Housing two locomotive stalls, it not only dwarfs the old shed but the entire turntable. Inside we're keeping the Shay and the Green Switcher, so all of our steam engines are protected. We're still going to keep the Pennsylvania Engine in the old shed, in its old space.

One of the problems with the old shed was the track moving around inside. It wasn't secured, so every now and then an engine would hit a wall while heading inside the shed. Not so with this new roundhouse, which has track supports built into the floor. The doors are also much more stable, secured by six screws each. The roundhouse's brick exterior complements the twelve slightly arched windows and the gray roof, featuring gutters, smokestacks, and air vents. This roundhouse can also be easily expanded with additional stalls.

This roundhouse isn't the only new thing at the turntable. The locomotives are now in a different order: the Pennsylvania Engine, the Bulldog, the Green Switcher, the Shay, the Track Cleaner, and finally the Red Switcher. Amtrak and the GE-U25B are still on their own separate sidings. The entire area has been cleaned up, and a patch of grass, previously at the new roundhouse's current position, has been moved to the old shed. NOTE: the panorama of the turntable has not yet been updated with the new building. A news story will denote the update.
